Ligue 1 - Zidane headbutt becomes work of art

French legend Zinedine Zidane's headbutt on Italy defender Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final has been celebrated as a work of art in Paris.

Algerian-born Adel Abdessemed has designed the sculpture which has been posted in front of the Centre Pompidou modern art museum in the French capital.

The bronze statue is five metres high.

Zidane was infamously sent off in disgrace after butting Materazzi on the chest in the 110th minute of the final forcing the former Inter defender to the ground.

Italy won the match on penalties after a 1-1 draw over normal and extra-time.
