WTCC - Basseng takes Daytona 24 Hours podium

New World Touring Car Championship driver Marc Basseng began the motorsport season in style by claiming a podium at the Daytona 24 Hours.

Basseng, who will race with ALL-LINKL-COM Münnich Motorsport, finished the Florida enduro in second position in the GT class as he shared an Audi R8 Grand-Am with Ian Baas, Frank Stippler and René Rast.

The German car, run by APR Motorsport, completed 678 laps at Daytona, crossing the finishing line only 1.5 seconds after the winning sister car of Alex Job Racing.

Markus Winkelhock, who shared the 2012 FIA GT title with Basseng and will join him in WTCC, was classified seventh, one lap behind. Winhelhock was also at the wheel of an APR Motorsport Audi R8.
