World Cup - Germany coach Loew backs Khedira for World Cup

Sami Khedira is expected to be fit for the World Cup, Germany coach, Joachim Loew has said.

AS cites an interview Loew conducted with Germany publication Bild am Sonntag in which the Coach discussed the fitness of Khedira, who suffered a serious knee injury playing for Germany in November

He had been expected to miss the World Cup in Brazil, but his speedy recovery means he could yet be fit.

“If all goes well, Sami’s calendar will be full (this summer),” Loew said. “I spoke to Sami on the phone three days ago.

“He feels good. He’s training gently on the treadmill.

“He’s not suffered any setbacks.”

Khedira is expected to be part of a 26-man get-together in Munich in the near future.

The 26-year-old suffered a torn cruciate ligament during Germany’s 1-1 draw with Italy.
