UFC 188 is Already Sold Out and UFC 189 is Well On Its Way

UFC 188: Velasquez vs. Werdum has sold out.

UFC officials on Friday announced that the promotion’s second trip to Mexico City sold out one week after tickets went on sale. It marks back-to-back sellouts at the Mexico City Arena.

UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt was the promotion’s first effort in the Mexican capital on Nov. 15 of last year. It sold out all 21,000 seats, as Fabricio Werdum shocked everyone, knocking out Mark Hunt midway through the second round of the fight. He captured the interim UFC heavyweight championship in doing so.

Werdum will now attempt to unify his interim belt with the one wrapped around current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez’s waist at UFC 188 on June 13.

The tickets for UFC 189: Aldo vs. McGregor went on sale to the general public on Friday and is already nearing sellout status.
