The win will boost the 21-year-old from Guernsey into the world’s top 100 when the rankings are updated on Monday.

Watson saw off world number 66 Schmiedlova from Slovakia 7-6(7-5) 6-0 in the final of the ITF event – a tier below the WTA tour – after winning her semi-final earlier in the day against Timea Babos.

The last four clash was postponed on Saturday due to rain, but Watson saw off the world number 98 from Hungary 7-6(7-3) 6-3 before making it two wins out of two on the day to claim the trophy.

The double duty capped an excellent week for the Brit after she saw off 30th-ranked Klara Koukalova and 62nd-ranked Karolina Pliskova on her way to the title.

Up next for Watson is qualifying for the French Open – where three wins will secure her a first-round spot in the main draw at Roland Garros.

However she, along with Johanna Konta, has already booked her place in the Wimbledon main draw.
