Superbike - Fabrizio paces Phillip Island first practice

Michel Fabrizio set the pace in first practice ahead of the World Superbike season-opening race at Phillip Island.

The Red Devils Roma Aprilia rider dominated the session, setting a benchmark time just 10 minutes in and staying top of the timesheets until the chequered flag came down.

The Italian ended with a time of 1min 31.218secs, five-tenths faster than his nearest rival on the day Leon Haslam, the Briton having clocked 1min 31.728secs.

Honda's Haslam came in ahead of Suzuki's Leon Camier and Aprilia's Sylvain Guintoli, the quartet the only four riders to break the 1:31 barrier.
