Spanish Liga - Real Zaragoza dispatch Athletic Bilbao

Scorer Apono shone for Real Zaragoza as they defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-0 at San Mames.

Los Manos bagged the game-winner as Apono scored his goal from the penalty spot, burying a right-footed shot into the lower right section of the net.

Apono was on the pitch for 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao. The midfielder scored in the 31st minute, assisted on Helder Postiga's goal in the 42nd minute and completed 41 passes. Apono's favorite passing target was Jose Maria Movilla, with whom he linked up seven times.

Los Leones have now recorded a record of six wins, eight losses and three draws this season, which puts them in 13th place, only six points above the relegation zone. Real Zaragoza are in 12 place, and in striking distance of Levante in sixth with a record of seven wins, nine losses and one draws leaving them five behind after 17 games.

Los Blanquillos had 29.1 per cent of possession during the victory. Real Zaragoza had 13 shots, including four on target. The three attempts by Postiga were the most of any Real Zaragoza player.

Víctor Rodrguez went off due to injury in the 71st minute and was replaced by Edu Oriol. Roberto's 14 passes to Postiga were the most of any Real Zaragoza team-mates during the match.

Athletic Bilbao managed to dominate the possession game, and maintained control of the ball for 70.9 per cent of the match. Los Rojiblancos's players linked up for 534 passes and 45 crosses in defeat.

Fernando Llorente made his mark on the match for Athletic Bilbao after coming on for Iker Muniain in the 69th minute, as he took two shots. Oscar De Marcos had three shots for Los Leones, more than any of his team-mates. The combination of Borja Ekiza to Mikel San Jose was the most common during the match, as the two players connected 20 times.

Real Mallorca came from behind to wipe out Benat's early goal for Real Betis and win 2-1 on the road in La Liga.

Benat was on the pitch for 90 minutes against Mallorca. The midfielder scored in the fifth minute, took five shots and completed 53 passes. Benat's favourite passing target was Nacho, with whom he linked up 14 times.

Víctor scored on a header for Los Bermellones in the 30th minute.

Los Beticos are holding down a spot in the Europa League in fifth place with a record of nine wins, seven losses and one draws for 28 points. Mallorca are in 15th place, just one point above the relegation zone with a record of four wins, nine losses and four draws after 17 games.

The Barralets's attackers only managed three shots, including two that were on target. Mallorca generated these few opportunities while having possession for a mere 32.2 per cent of the match. Dudu Aouate pitched in with six stops.

The two attempts by Javier Marquez were the most of any Mallorca player. Tomer Hemed was brought on to replace Giovani dos Santos in the 75th minute when the latter went down with an injury.

Real Betis managed to dominate the possession game, and maintained control of the ball for 67.8 per cent of the match. The 17 shots that Los Verdiblancos managed were not enough to secure the win. They also completed 436 passes and had 32 crosses in the loss. Canas's 17 passes to Benat were the most of any Real Betis team-mates during the match.

Granada moved out of the relegation zone after snatching a 2-1 win at Osasuna.

Nino started the scoreboard with a header that put the home side in front after eight minutes. Granada finally levelled four minutes from the break courtesy of Diego Mainz who netted Dani Benitez's cross.

Early in the second stanza Benitez scored to seal the deal and lift Juan Antonio Anquela's side to 15th place in the table. Struggling Osasuna remain in danger in 19th place.
