The legendary Seedorf was brought in as Massimiliano Allegri's replacement in January but won only 11 of his 22 games in charge as the Rossoneri finished eighth in the table.
Now Inzaghi, a former team-mate of Seedorf, has been appointed on a deal until 2016 after being promoted from his role in charge of Milan's youth team.
Rumours have been circulating for weeks that Seedorf would be sacked, but first had to agree a severance package.
It seems that has now happened, with the club issuing a statement reading: "AC Milan wishes to communicate that coach Clarence Seedorf has been sacked, and the first team has been entrusted to Pippo Inzaghi until June 30, 2016.”
