The Portuguese star was with the Red Devils for six years before being sold to Real Madrid for a then record £80m in June 2009.
Speaking to the Daily Mail during a promotional event at the Jarama race circuit outside the Spanish capital, Ronaldo could not hide his feelings for his former club, although he is not planning on leaving Madrid just yet.
“I love Manchester [United]," he said. "Everyone knows that. I have said it many times. Manchester is in my heart.
“I left many good friends there and the supporters are amazing. I wish I can come back one day.
“I’m happy at Real Madrid and have four more years, but in the future you never know because they treated me unbelievably there [in Manchester].
“I really did love being at Manchester United."
OUR VIEW: Let's be clear about this: it's not the first time Ronaldo has professed a desire to return to Old Trafford. Still, the regularity with which he makes such announcements does hint at the genuine affection he feels for the club, and maybe, just maybe, he could end his career as a footballer back in Manchester.
