Premier League - Gerrard out for up to six weeks out with hamstring injury

Liverpool have confirmed that Steven Gerrard is out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Reds captain limped off 10 minutes into the second half of the 4-1 win over West Ham, and the club have now confirmed that he could be out until mid-January.

The latest news means that Gerrard could miss as many as eight matches, including clashes with fellow top four rivals at Manchester City and Chelsea over the Christmas period.

He is expected to be back in action in time for the Merseyside derby against Everton on January 28th, however.

With striker Daniel Sturridge already ruled out with a sprained ankle until mid-January, Gerrard's absence places an even greater burden on Luis Suarez.
