Nordic Combined - Lamy Chappuis back to winning ways in Schonach

Nordic combined World Cup champion Eric Frenzel was kept off the podium once again on home soil in Schonach as three-time overall winner Jason Lamy Chappuis took his second victory of the season.

Lamy Chappuis, whose one and only podium finish this Olympic season was his win in the first of two races in Lillehammer, beat not Frenzel but another German in Johannes Rydzek by 0.7seconds.

Eleventh after the jumping Rydzek couldn't catch Lamy Chappuis, who was fifth, with the Frenchman clocking a winning time of 23:47.1minutes while Japan's Akito Watabe was third.

Frenzel, who has won three World Cup races this season to lead the overall standings, could be seen down in eighth and Saturday's winner in Schonach Magnus Moan four places lower in 12th.

The defending World Cup champion now leads Watabe by 62 points with a total of 403 while Lamy Chappuis is 29 behind the Japanese athlete with those three starting to break away from the rest.
