The trio of Britons Jody Firth and Warren Hughes and New Zealander Brendon Hartley registered the fastest during the second session around the English circuit, clocking one minute 36.978 seconds in their Oreca O3 and a top speed of 148.6 kilometres per hour.
OAK Racing's Jacque Nicolet and Matthieu Lahaye were quickest at the end of the first session, but the French duo's Morgan LMP2 ended the day 0.503s behind the pace-setters.
Sebastien Loeb Racing were third fastest on the day while TDS Racing's Mathias Beche and Pierre Thiriet – who won the first meeting of the season at Castellet, France, were fourth on the timesheets after the first day.
The third and final practice session will be on Saturday morning, with qualifying scheduled to start at 13:45.
