Australia coach Robbie Deans has selected Waratahs winger Drew Mitchell and Reds flanker Radike Samo in his 30-man squad for the inaugural Rugby Championship after their recovery from injury.
Mitchell, 28, and 36-year-old Samo both finished the Super 15 season in fine form after struggling with hamstring and shoulder problems earlier in the year.
Deans has also called up youngsters Liam Gill, Jake Schatz and Kane Douglas into to see how they fare at international level.
The Wallabies will start their campaign against New Zealand in Sydney on August 18 but will do so without injured pair James O'Connor and Pat McCabe, who have been left out of the squad.
However, O'Connor (hamstring) and McCabe (foot) could still be involved in the Rugby Championship if they recover before the end of the tournament.
Full-back Kurtley Beale has also been picked by Deans despite still being involved in legal mediation over allegations of an assault charge.
