Ligue 1 - QPR set to beat Newcastle to Remy capture

Queens Park Rangers look to have hijacked Newcastle's move for Marseille striker Loic Remy just before the striker's medical.

Numerous sources are reporting that the 26-year-old has flown to London for talks with the Premier League strugglers, moments before he was due for a medical at Newcastle.

The Ligue 1 side confirmed on Sunday that they had accepted a bid from Alan Pardew's side for Remy, believed to be just over £8million.

But QPR boss Harry Redknapp, who made a move for the Frenchman while manager of Tottenham Hotspur, appears to have been successful in convincing Remy to head South over North.
