Perhaps the most eyecatching feature of the XI for the Liga match against Elche was the inclusion of 18-year-old forward Munir, an addition from the club's B-team.

Summer addition Claudio Bravo started in goal, with fellow new recruit Marc-Andre ter Stegen out injured, while Jeremy Mathieu also slotted into defence after his move from Valencia.

Dani Alves - linked with an exit - linked up at right-back with Javier Mascherano and Jordi Alba completing a back four.

In midfield, another summer signing in Ivan Rakitic partnered Sergio Busquets, with Andres Iniesta also in situ. The legendary Xavi was on the bench.

Munir, fellow youngster Rafinha and Lionel Messi made up the front three with Pedro and Neymar injured and Luis Suarez banned.
