Cadena SER have claimed that the Celta Vigo Coach held discussions with the Blaugrana’s sporting director on Monday as speculation mounts that the former midfielder will be named as Martino’s successor.
The reports have led to rumours in the Madrid press about a conspiracy between Barca and Celta's boss to help the Catalans win the league ahead of their new boss' arrival. AS and Marca have been particularly vocal in their complaints, with Celta set to face Real Madrid this weekend.
Argentine tactician Martino has endured a difficult debut campaign at Camp Nou, failing to lift a trophy this term and coming in for criticism for his style of play.
As such, the ex-Barca star looks set to come in over the summer, with the radio station insisting that he has had positive discussions with Zubizarreta.
Other target Ernesto Valverde is said to want to stay at Athletic Bilbao after guiding them to the Champions League this season.
