The former Barcelona goalkeeper left Camp Nou at the end of last season after his contract with the Blaugrana expired.
The goalkeeper had been set for a switch to Monaco, but after he damaged his cruciate ligament in March, the French outfit pulled out of the deal.
As such, the Spain international is still unattached – but that may not be the case for much longer.
Reports in the British press, notably the Daily Mail and the Times, suggested that Liverpool could sign the Spaniard, but may wait until after the close of the transfer window.
The player’s agent hinted that Valdes would be ‘at a big club before Christmas'. Gines Carvajal told Cadena Ser:
"One can sign at any time and I'm sure we'll see Valdes at a big team before Christmas.
"The recovery is going well, but we do now yet know when he will be cleared [to return to action]."
