Germany international Reus, who was ruled out of the World Cup with an ankle injury, has made a verbal agreement with La Blaugrana, Sport has reported.
Barca will now attempt to do a deal with Dortmund for the player and will start the bidding at €35m (£28m).
Reus has been chosen by sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and president Josep Maria Bartomeu for a number of reasons, it’s said - he is cheaper than Sergio Aguero, only 25 years old, and versatile.
He is also said to want to move to a league that is more competitive than Germany’s, in the wake of Bayern Munich’s domination of the division under Pep Guardiola.
