Kent frustrate leaders Derbyshire

LV= County Championship Division Two leaders Derbyshire were frustrated in their efforts against Kent as Sam Northeast and Brendan Nash led the hosts to lunch on day three without adding to the three second-innings wickets they lost on Wednesday night.

Northeast (91) and Nash (53) were enjoying an unbeaten 122-run fourth-wicket partnership as Kent reached 181 for three - an overall lead of 242.

Yorkshire struck four times to reduce Glamorgan to 113 for six in their second innings at Headingley. Resuming on 27 for two, the visitors were five for 46 at one stage but Jim Allenby's unbeaten 44 steadied the ship for Glamorgan, who led by 41 runs at the interval.

Bottom-of-the-table Gloucestershire remained on course for only their third win of the season as they continued to dominate Northamptonshire.

Gloucestershire were 311 all out in the second innings - a lead of 431 after dismissing Northamptonshire for 100 in their first innings.

And Northamptonshire's second innings offered little to suggest they could deny their opponents victory, as they slipped to 53 for three.

Essex continued to build a useful lead against Hampshire at Southampton.

Resuming on 217 for two, Essex were 277 for three at lunch - a lead of 228 runs.
