James, Varnish left disappointed

The home fans were treated to a gold medal to cheer when Juliana Gaviria won the women's Keirin at the Track Cycling World Cup in Cali, Colombia, but there was disappointment for two Brits.

Becky James and Jess Varnish both failed to secure a medal after an incident involving Wai Sze Lee of Hong Kong.

In the women's Omnium, Australia's Isabella King triumphed with a score of 10 points.

Germany's Philipp Thiele took gold in the men's sprint

Thiele's triumph prevented home favourite Fabian Puerta from securing a third gold after his successes in the kilometre time trial and Keirin.

Eric Engler also won a trophy for Germany when beating Russia's Valentin Savitskiy for the bronze medal.

In the men's points race, Andreas Graf of Austria took gold while Jonathan Mould of Wales secured bronze.
