Ice Hockey - Galchenyuk scores winner as Montreal down Devils

Montreal winger Alex Galchenyuk scored in the third period to send the Canadiens to a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils.

All three Montreal forwards were in the goalmouth when Galchenyuk redirected defenseman Alexei Emelin's point shot past New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur.

The Canadiens (16-9-3) have claimed 13 of a possible 14 points while going 6-0-1 in their last seven games.

Steve Bernier and Michael Ryder scored for the Devils (11-12-5), who had won their two previous games following a three-game losing streak.

Wild 2, Flyers 0

Frustrated for more than 40 minutes, the Minnesota Wild finally broke through via third-period goals from Jason Pominville and Charlie Coyle to snap a four-game losing streak.

Pominville, who leads the Wild with 13 goals, and Coyle scored less than a minute apart, and goalie Josh Harding added 21 saves in his third shutout of the season for Minnesota (16-8-5).

Philadelphia (12-13-2) suffered just their third regulation loss in the past dozen games.

Jets 5, Rangers 2

The Jets broke a 2-2 tie in the third period on two goals from center Olli Jokinen as he powered them to a road victory over New York.

Jokinen's fifth goal of the season at 12:42 proved to be the difference.

Blake Wheeler added an empty-net goal late in the third period and Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec made 35 saves as Winnipeg (13-12-4) claimed their third win out of four during their current six-game road trip.

Goaltender Cam Talbot stopped 25 shots for the Rangers (14-14-0).
