Golf - Kaymer to join US tour next year

Former world number one Martin Kaymer is set to join several Ryder Cup team-mates who play the majority of their golf in the United States.

The German has been eligible to become a US tour member since he won the US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in 2010.

World number one Rory McIlroy, second-ranked Luke Donald and number four Lee Westwood are among several top Europeans who spend the majority of their time competing in the US.

And two other Medinah heroes, Nicolas Colsaerts and Peter Hanson, will also become members next year.

Kaymer's decision means 28 of the top 30 players in the world rankings will be US Tour members in 2013.
