Freestyle Skiing - Canadian Gerrits upsets Chinese trio at Bird's Nest

Travis Gerrits caused a major upset as he denied three Chinese freestyle skiers victory in the aerials World Cup on their own snow at the impressively transformed Bird's Nest in Beijing.

Gerrits produced the best score of final three in China to deny Wu Chao, Jia Zongyang and world champion Qi Guangpu all the second World Cup win of the season with three now to go.

The Canadian World Championship silver medallist was the lowest ranked of the four going into final three but turned the tables as the Bird's Nest in Beijing installed a giant and impressive aerials ramp.

He now leads the aerials World Cup standings having finished fourth in Beida Lake last weekend while the winner on that occasion Liu Zhongqing drops to second after a 12th in Beijing.
