Football - Lennon: No news is good news

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon is hoping for more good news on an injury scare for Paul McGowan after his side swept into the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup with a 3-0 replay win over Queen of the South.

McGowan was in the stand wearing a protective boot as his replacement, Gary Harkins, sent Saints on their way to victory when he stroked home Steven Thompson's 18th-minute knockdown.

Lennon is hopeful that the foot injury will not be a fracture.

"We wait on word on a scan he received earlier this evening," Lennon said. "But he is making slight improvement.

"There was no fracture on Saturday evening but a hairline one wouldn't show up so that's why he went for the scan. But no news is good news."
