Football - Jarvis suffers injury blow

Torquay forward Ryan Jarvis faces a lengthy spell on the treatment table with fractured ribs and a partially punctured lung following a collision in Saturday's draw with Northampton.

The former Norwich and Walsall striker went down as a result of a sliding challenge five minutes before the end of the game.

Torquay officials noticed that Jarvis was still struggling after the match had ended so called an ambulance to the ground, where he was diagnosed with fractured ribs and a partially punctured lung.

Given the serious nature of the injury, manager Martin Ling expects his player to be unavailable until way into to the New Year.
