Football - Berg backs his coaching team

Blackburn manager Henning Berg has dismissed speculation that the club's owners are set to impose changes to his backroom team.

Berg's start to life as Rovers boss has brought just one win in nine games ahead of this weekend's home npower Championship game with Brighton.

The dismal run prompted newspaper speculation that global advisor Shebby Singh would head up the task of assembling a new coaching team to work alongside Berg, but the 43-year-old former Norway international insists this is wide of the mark and leapt to the defence of his colleague.

"Nothing has changed since I started this job," he said. "I will make the football decisions.

"I am assessing things, I'm looking to work with the people we have here and that's where I stand."

"What I'm not too happy with is speculation about the rest of the coaching staff.

"We have some good coaches here, some good people, and, for them to see these speculations in the paper, it's not a nice thing to do.

"I'm not happy with that and we have to make sure that we talk to people in a situation like that because, like I said these are good coaches and they know what to do."
