Figure Skating - Asada wins back-to-back Grand Prix Final titles

History was made across the board at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Fukuoka as Japan's Mao Asada led the winners on her own ice.

Asada claimed her 14th ladies' Grand Prix victory and fourth in the Final after a total of 131.66 points in the free skate gave her a winning total of 204.02.

The 23-year-old's win sees her pass Michelle Kwan's total of 13 with Irina Slutskaya with 17 the only skater to have won more while she also became the first to have won back-to-back titles.

Julia Lipnitskaia was second and Ashley Wagner third while Meryl Davis and Charlie White claimed victory in the ice dance for a record-equalling sixth Grand Prix Final podium finish.

They are the first to finish on the podium six years in a row with this year their fifth straight win and 15th in succession on the Grand Prix circuit; both of which are records in all disciplines.

They totalled 191.35 points after a 113.69 in the free dance while Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy claimed the pairs title ahead of Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov.
