Dakar - Trucks: De Rooy loses lead after problems

Dutchman Gerard De Rooy suffered a horrendous fourth stage of the Dakar and lost his overall lead in the process.

The Iveco man had won the first three stages of the race but suffered mechanical problems, had two punctures, and got stuck in the dunes during the stage from Nazca to Arequipa.

De Rooy was only seventh in the stage, over 26 minutes behind stage winner Ayrat Mardeev (Kamaz).

Ales Loprais (Tatra) now holds the overall lead from De Rooy by 56 seconds. He only finished sixth in the stage but was still nearly eight minutes faster than De Rooy.
