Dakar - Cars: Roma takes overall lead with stage three win

Nani Roma took the third stage from San Rafael to San Juan with a time of two hours, 58 minutes and 52 seconds.

Roma finished 1:07 ahead of Krzysztof Holowczyc of Poland; while Leeroy Poulter came in 3:19 short of Roma’s time.

The win saw the Spanish driver move to the top of the overall standings where he holds a 09:06 lead over Orlando Terranova, with 11-time champion Stephane Peterhansel down in fifth in the overall standings.

Peterhansel finished in 28th on day three after suffering six punctures.

"I've never known a Dakar stage like this one," said a frustrated Peterhansel.

"It was a nightmare today. We punctured six times! Unfortunately, we opened on the course and we paid for it."
