Dakar - Bikes: Despres secures fifth Dakar victory

Cyril Despres stayed out of trouble on the final stage of the Dakar Rally to wrap up a fifth overall victory in the race.

The Frenchman only finished 14th on the final stage from La Serena to Santiago but it was still enough to finish over 10 minutes ahead of Portugal's Ruben Faria who won the final stage.

Third place was taken by Chile's Francisco Lopez.

All three riders are members of the KTM team.

"I've got a good reason to be very happy. The day when winning the Dakar becomes easy, it won't be interesting anymore," said Despres who has now won three editions in South America (2013, 12, 10) and two in Africa (2007, 05).
