Cycling - Kirsipuu goes to Astana

Former Tour de France stage winner Jaan Kirsipuu will join Astana as a sporting director in 2013.

The Estonian sprinter, who won five stages of the Tour and wore the yellow jersey for six days in 1999, has signed a one-year contract with the Kazakh team.

"My task will be technical support and coordinating team-work during races. I know the Astana team and that helped me get the job," the 43-year-old told Estonian public broadcaster ERR on Monday.
