Cross-Country Skiing - Legkov takes Tour de Ski lead as Northug slips back

Petter Northug relinquished his lead in the Tour De Ski standings to Alexander Legkov, while the in-form Alexey Poltoranin dominated the classic 15km mass start in Val Di Fiemme.

In the penultimate race of this year's Tour Northug, the overall leader pre-race, won the initial bonus sprint but it was Poltoranin who won his second race in succession.

The Kazakh won in a time of 39:01.5 minutes with the Canadian duo of Len Valjas and Alex Harvey second and third respectively.

Norway's Northug faded badly in the closing stages and ended up a full 29.3 seconds behind the winner in 28th, dropping him down to third overall with one race to go.

Defending Tour De Ski champion Dario Cologna of Switzerland had to settle for 12th, enough to keep him in second in the overall standings as Russia's Alexander Legkov, fifth on the day in Italy, moved to the top of the table.
