Cross-Country Skiing - Bjoergen wins third stage to pull clear in Falun

Marit Bjoergen moved one step closer to victory in the World Cup Final mini tour after recording her second successive stage victory with a win in the 10km classic mass start.

The 33-year-old was never more than two seconds shy of first place on the third stage race and eventually broke for victory herself with just over a kilometre to go.

Bjoergen powered through the final metres to complete a Norwegian one-two-three in Falun with Therese Johaug second and Heidi Weng third ahead of Justyna Kowalczyk.

She clocked a winning time of 28:06.7 minutes with Johaug, the world champion in the 10km freestyle, 3.9 seconds behind in second place before Weng beat Kowalczyk to third.

Weng came from behind to just pip the World Cup champion at the line by 0.1 seconds, 11 behind Bjoergen in total, who she gave a double boost to by overhauling Kowalczyk.

Bjoergen leads Kowalczyk by 45.5 seconds heading into the season-closing final 10km freestyle mini tour stage in Falun with Johaug 1:19.7 minutes behind in total in third place.
