Coppel wins Tour du Doubs

Jerome Coppel won the Tour du Doubs sprint, while Samuel Dumoulin retained his place atop the Coupe de France rankings.

The Saur-Sojasun rider finished in front of a break of more than 150km to add to his success in this very event two years prior.

The 26-year-old was part of a three-bike attack also involving Sylvain Georges (AG2R-La Mondiale) and Jean-Marc Bideau (Bretagne-Schuller), who were joined on the line by the peloton.

The result of the 199km Tour, which ran as a circuit between Pontarlier and Mortlake, had no bearings on the Coupe de France classification with two of the 16 total rounds remaining.

The penultimate event, the Grand Prix Isbergues, takes place on September 16.
