Bundesliga - Ribery: I deserved Ballon d'Or not Ronaldo

Bayern Munich and France winger Franck Ribéry is apparently unhappy about missing out on the Ballon d'Or to Cristiano Ronaldo insisting he was the right choice because the Real Madrid forward did not win a trophy last year.

Ribery was tipped to run Ronaldo close for the top prize, but finished third in the running for the world's top player with Barcelona's Lionel Messi relegating him to third place.

Ribery helped Bayern Munich claim the Bundesliga, German Cup, Champions League, Super Cup and World Club Cup in an unprecedented year of success for the club.

Ronaldo hit 66 goals in 56 appearances for Madrid, but had no trophies to show for his exploits.

"I won everything, with the team and individually. Ronaldo won nothing," Ribery apparently said in an interview with Munich's TZ newspaper.

"I feel I had earned this award. It's all politics.

"The Golden Ball doesn't interest me any more."
