Antonio Tarver, the IBO cruiserweight world champion as well as occasional TV commentator and movie star, has been arrested for allegedly passing a bad cheque.

The 45-year-old was picked up by police in Florida following a traffic stop, according to an AP report, and detained under the arrest warrant issued by authorities in Nevada.

Tarver, a bronze medallist at the 1996 Olympics, won 30 and lost six fights in his professional career, and held world titles at cruiserweight and light heavyweight - one of which he claimed by knocking out the legendary Roy Jones Jr in the second round of a bout in 2004..

He currently holds the IBO cruiserweight title, which he took from Australia's Danny Green in 2011. He last defended the title in November.

Tarver will be known to many fans as one of the stars of Sylvester Stallone's 2006 film 'Rocky Balboa', in which Tarver played the reigning heavyweight world champion who took on Stallone's titular character.
