Boxing - Price to face Airich in January comeback

In an opponent switch, Liverpudlian heavyweight David Price (15-2) will now begin his rehabilitation against Kazakh Konstantin Airich (19-7-2) on January 25 at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle, Stuttgart.

Arich didn’t fight in 2013, and is beginning his own comeback of sorts.

After capturing the IBF Inter Continental title against Czech Ondrej Pala in March 2013, he went on a three fight losing streak, firstly to world title challenger, Cuban Odlandier Solis, and then to unbeaten Ukrainian Vyacheslav Glazkov before being KO’d in the first round against Lebanese Manuel Charr in December 2012.

He was previously stopped by former British champion Danny Williams back in 2008.

Price's return had originally been scheduled for December 14, but he pulled out with a virus. This will be his first fight under the guidance of new trainer Tommy Brooks.

Price was due to face 6ft 9” Russian Evgeny Orlov. His promoter, Sauerland, gave no reason for the switch.
