Sheffield United moved second in npower League One after a comprehensive 4-1 win over promotion rivals Stevenage.
Shaun Miller scored twice with goals by Neill Collins and Chris Porter more than enough to claim all three points and close the gap on leaders Tranmere to two points, with Mark Roberts' header only a consolation for Stevenage at Bramhall Lane.
Swindon kept pace at the top of the standings with a 4-1 win over mid-table Yeovil. James Collins fired a brace as Andy Williams and Darren Ward chipped in to the winning effort while James Hayter scored the only goal for the visitors just before half-time.
Coventry thrashed bottom side Hartlepool 5-0 at Victoria Park with two goals for Carl Baker and scores for David McGoldrick, from the penalty spot, Franck Moussa and Adam Barton all coming in a 25-minute period in the second half.
Lewis Grabban fired a hat-trick as Bournemouth beat Oldham 4-1. Grabban scored twice in two minutes in the second half before he netted a third in the 72nd minute, with Charlie Daniels securing the points with a header in the 81st minute. Matt Smith pulled one back five minutes later but it was too late for Oldham who are now in the relegation zone.
Crawley dropped points at home as they were held to a 2-2 draw when they were reduced to 10 men against Walsall. Febian Brandy opened the scoring for the visitors before Billy Clarke levelled for Crawley in the 21st minute. Ashley Hemmings handed Walsall the lead again before Jonathan Forte found the equaliser, with Joe Walsh's dismissal six minutes before full-time not affecting the final score.
David Mooney scored twice as Leyton Orient brushed aside Carlisle in a 4-1 win at Brunton Park. Mooney headed the opener in the 18th minute before his effort one minute before the break sandwiched scores by Orient team-mates' Ben Chorley and Lee Cook in a comprehensive start. Peter Murphy's 25th-minute goal for the home side was not enough as Carlisle's winless run was extended to four games.
Colchester consolidated their place in the middle of the table with a 2-0 win over second-bottom Bury. Anthony Wordsworth and Freddie Sears both scored in the second half in a dominant performance by the home side.
Elsewhere, 10-man Scunthorpe held on for a 2-2 draw at home to Notts County. Christian Ribeiro scored first for the Iron before Lee Hughes levelled things up with a headed goal after 34 minutes. Damien Mozika put Scunthorpe back in front before defender Paul Reid was dismissed and Hughes drew his side level with a volley eight minutes from time.
Iain Hume's first-half goal was enough for Doncaster to beat Portsmouth 1-0, Luke Summerfield struck to seal a 1-0 win for Shrewsbury over Crewe and Preston drew 1-1 against Brentford. Scott Laird scored for North End but Antonio German's last-minute header meant the points were shared at Deepdale.
