Biathlon - Svendsen takes first win of season in Pokljuka

Emil Hegle Svendsen claimed his first Biathlon World Cup win of the season and moved up to second in the overall standings after victory in the 12.5km pursuit in Pokljuka.

The Norwegian, and former overall World Cup champion, produced a near faultless display on the shooting range to romp to victory in a time of 32:49.2.

Just behind him second was the home crowd favourite Ondrej Moravec, the Czech star grabbing his first podium of the season less than four seconds back.

Reigning champion Martin Fourcade kept his firm grip on the top of the overall standings as he came home in third after two misses on the final shooting range.

The Frenchman has only finished off the podium once in seven races so far this season but has not tasted victory since the first World Cup of the season and will be looking to put that right in Sunday's 15km Mass Start.
