Biathlon - Landertinger outsprints Schempp for Austrian relay victory

Dominik Landertinger pipped German Simon Schempp by just one-tenth-of-a-second in a sprint finish as Austria claimed a first World Cup men's relay victory of the season in Ruhpolding.

With all the shooting done the men's 4x7.5km relay came down to a sprint to the line with Landertinger and Schempp battling over the final kilometre for the win, entering the home stretch together.

But it was Landertinger who just pulled away to upset the home crowd, bringing Austria to the line in 1:15:40.9 hours.

Landertinger was joined by Christoph Sumann, Daniel Mesotitsch and Simon Eder as Austria claimed their first World Cup relay victory of the season, moving them on to 151 points in the standings as they sit second overall.

Germany are third overall five points further back after their quarter of Christoph Stephan, Andreas Birnbacher, Erik Lesser and Schempp finished runners up in Ruhpolding.

And still sitting atop of the overall World Cup standings are Russia on 156 points after Alexey Volkov, Evgeny Ustyugov, Dmitry Malyshko and Anton Sipuliun came home third in Germany in !:15:55.8 hours.
