Basketball - Kobe to return against Raptors

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is scheduled to make his season debut on Sunday, when the Lakers host the Toronto Raptors at Staples Center.

Bryant has been out of action since suffering a torn left Achilles tendon nearly eight months ago.

Bryant made the announcement of his scheduled return by linking to a two-minute video on his Facebook page.

The video begins with the title "Seasons of Legend" and ends with "The Legend Continues ... December 8."

The video shows his No. 24 Lakers jersey being tossed by weather elements. The jersey is then torn down the middle before being repaired by a beam of light.

The NBA fined Denver Nuggets guard Nate Robinson $25,000 for publicly criticising officials.

Robinson made the comments after the Nuggets' 97-95 win over the New York Knicks on November 29.

"They hate me, they hate me," he after the game. "I don't know why, but it is what it is. I already know I've got the target on my back, but I'll play through it; I don't care. I really don't. It doesn't bother me none. If I get a call, I get a call. If I don't, I don't. If I get a tech, hopefully it's not in the fourth quarter. Hopefully I don't get any more. But I know I will. It's nothing new for me."
