Basketball - Pierce ruled out for two to four weeks

The Brooklyn Nets' injury list has grown with the team's confirmation that forward Paul Pierce will miss two to four weeks with a broken hand.

Pierce sustained a non-displaced fracture of third metacarpal in his right hand during Friday's game against the Houston Rockets. Earlier reports indicated the hand was bruised.

The injury-plagued Nets also are without guard Deron Williams, forward Andrei Kirilenko and guard Jason Terry. Center Brook Lopez and forward Kevin Garnett returned from injuries on Saturday in a win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Farmar suffered a torn left hamstring that will keep him off the court for at least a month, the team announced.

In 18 games this season, Farmar is averaging 9.2 points, 4.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds.

Center Pau Gasol also is nursing an injury. An MRI determined that Gasol has a strained ankle. It's uncertain how long he'll be sidelined, but the Lakers do not return to action until Friday.

Lakers guard Steve Nash is expected to return to practice on Tuesday after missing 10 straight games because of back and hamstring problems, ESPN reported.

It's possible - but not definite - that both he and Kobe Bryant will return to action when the Lakers play the Kings on Friday.
