The news comes two days after Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti tweeted Wednesday that the team is in the "feeling out process" with Tanaka's agent.
The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox reportedly were scheduled to meet with Tanaka this week. The right-hander is in Chicago with his agent Casey Close, according to Sportsnet. Tanaka is touring major-league cities.
Suitors are lining up for a shot at landing the 25-year-old, who went 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA in 212 innings last season for the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan. Other teams mentioned as possible destinations include the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Jan. 24 is the deadline for teams to pay a $20 million posting fee to the Golden Eagles. Tanaka is likely to command a major-league contract that will exceed $100 million.
