Ancelotti: Lavezzi not returning to Napoli

Ezequiel Lavezzi won't be heading back to Napoli when the transfer window reopens in January, according to Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti.

PSG apparently shelled out €30m to sign the forward from the Serie A club in the summer.

Ancelotti has denied claims the Argentina player is missing life in Naples.

“I don’t think that he has a longing for Napoli,” said Ancelotti. "He’s simply remained on good terms with his ex-teammates. That is only normal."

Lavezzi recently conceded that the atmosphere among the fans at Napoli cannot be replicated in Paris.

“I must admit that the atmosphere of the Stadio San Paolo can not be found elsewhere,” he commented.

“I took the decision to leave, it was a choice I made. We’ll have to wait for a bit before we can say whether I made a mistake or not. But I think I took a decision that I had to make.

“I’ll always thank the people of Naples for the way they treated me. I certainly wish the squad well as they are a great group.”
