    • - And that's that! Not quite the 4-0 scoreline recorded in the Euro 12 final but Spain still have the win.
    • 90'+1 The delivery is well defended and Spain break forward through Cazorla who releases Navas. The City forward has a shot at goal but Buffon does well to push the ball away!
    • 90' The corner is whipped in really well but it's Alonso who reacts quickest, heading the ball out for another corner!
    • 89' Italy win a late corner and one final chance to grab an equaliser.
    • 87' Just moments remaining in this contest - will there be a late goal? It doesn't look like it. The tempo has slowed right down.
    • 85' Silva lays off Cazorla in a decent position but the Arsenal man sees his effort deflected for a corner.
    • 83' Is there any stopping Spain at this summer's World Cup? Get in touch @DarrenBeatz.

    • 82' Yet another star player coming off the bench for Spain as Cazorla replaces my man of the match Pedro.
    • 80' That was Costa's big chance! The forward turned away from his marker inside the penalty area but screws the ball across the face of goal. Should have done better.
    • 79' Negredo looks miserable on the Spanish bench! It doesn't look likely he'll make an appearance tonight.
    • 78' Paletta - one of the few players on the pitch to have reached this stage without being subbed - breaks up yet another attack. He's been Italy's star man tonight.
    • 77' Spain are now playing more of a patient game than they have been throughout the match.
    • 75' Immobile is flagged for offside - he just made his run too soon.
    • 74' Italy's 22 fouls Spain's 22 as Destro goes into the book for pulling back Navas.
    • 72' Immobile's first contribution is to run straight into Alba inside the penalty area. I think he knew better than to even appeal for a spot-kick there!
    • 71' Less than 20 minutes to play - can Italy find a way back into the match?
    • 69' Thiago and Alonso run into each other in a moment of comedy! The game has become very start/stop as friendly matches tend to do. Hopefully we've seen the last of the substitutes because I'm having a hard time keeping up!
    • 68' Another couple of subs for Italy - Ciro Immobile is on for Osvaldo and Mattia Destro replaces Cerci.
    • 66' Italy win a free-kick and Pirlo whips the ball into the box where Paletta is found at the back post but his flick is dealt with by the Spanish defence who put the ball out for a corner.
    • 65' Jesus Navas replaces Iniesta and Raul Albiol comes on for Ramos.
    • 64' It's a deserved goal for Pedro who has had a really good game. Silva and Iniesta involved in the build up.
    • 63' GOAAAAAL! 1-0! Spain have finally broken the deadlock! Pedro strikes the ball at goal and it's squirmed under Buffon's legs.
    • 60' Thiago Motta, who has picked up a slight knock, will be replaced by Emanuele Giaccherini.
    • 58' Silva involved with yet another Spanish attack, squeezing in Iniesta but he's quickly closed down. Italy have been really solid and disciplined in defence tonight - just like they've always been over the years.
    • 57' Pedro and Silva link up brilliantly with the former released in space but he's unable to find Costa. Spain's killer pass just invading them at the moment.
    • 55' Buffon comes a long way from his goal to chase down a long pass from Silva and boot the ball out of play.
    • 54' Spain break forward immediately after with Silva laying off Pedro on the edge of the area but he produces a disappointing effort with the ball blasted way over the bar.
    • 53' The wonderful Pirlo picks out Osvaldo but a vital touch from Alba takes the ball from the forward.
    • 52' The hosts have started the bright in the second-half but are still looking for that opening goal.
    • 50' Thiago's free-kick takes a deflection and Spain win a corner.
    • 49' Two of those substitutions involved early in the second-half with Silva drawing a foul from Abate. Free-kick for Spain.
    • 48' As for Italy, well they've also made some changes. Abate comes on for Maggio, De Sciglio replaces Criscito and Pirlo is on in place of Candreva.
    • 47' A number of changes have been made at half-time for Spain with Valdes on for Casillas, Alonso replacing Fabregas and Silva coming on for Busquets.
    • 46' The second-half is underway.
    • - Half-time. A lively start has descended into a frustrating first 45 minutes.
    • 45' Thiago and Iniesta combine but again the final pass isn't good enough and the ball rolls out for a goal-kick.
    • 43' Pedro accelerates down the flank before turning Criscito inside out but no one is in the Italy danger area and the cross is wasted.
    • 41'
    • 40' Maggio produces a feisty tackle on Iniesta who goes down in pain but the referee waves play on. Nothing much friendly about this encounter.
    • 39' It's becoming a frustrating first-half for both sides now. Cerci is the latest player to give the ball away cheaply.
    • 37' Iniesta picks the ball up 30 yards from goal before picking out Costa who tries to return it to the Barca player but the pass is too long and the ball rolls out for a goal-kick. It's just not happening for Spain at the moment.
    • 35' In the 14 past meetings between the pair, Spain have won three, Italy have four and the two nations have drawn on seven occasions.
    • 33'
    • 31' The corner doesn't come to anything but Italy are beginning to come into this game a little more now.
    • 30' Osvaldo has had an impressive opening half hour and he does well again, winning his side a corner.
    • 28' Best chance so far! Osvaldo almosts put Italy ahead after a lovely piece of skill on the edge of the area before curling the ball just wide of the target. Casillas was beaten.
    • 27' Just as I write that, Costa wins his side a free-kick in a dangerous area outwide but the delivery is disappointing as Italy easily clear.
    • 26' Costa defends from the front with a tough tackle on Paletta. He's been very quiet so far, the Atletico striker.
    • 25' Azpilicueta delivers a dangerous cross into the path of Fabregas but he gets under the ball and blasts his effort over the bar.
    • 23' Italy have failed to keep possession any time they've managed to get a hold of the ball and it's Spain who is dominating play at the moment. Can't say we are surprised really.
    • 21' Iniesta produces a curling effort at goal from the edge of the area and forces Buffon into a save. Comfortable enough for the Italian 'keeper.
    • 20' Pedro finds Costa in a good position but Paletta makes a good challenge to put an end to the attack
    • 18' Alba finds himself in space on the flank but his cross across the face of goal fails to find a team mate.
    • 17' It's been a bright start to the game but the match remains scoreless. 0-0.
    • 15' Italy break forward on the counter attack through Candreva who picks out Osvaldo but after a collision with Ramos, the Juventus striker falls rather theatrically. Play on.
    • 14' Another corner for Spain - won by Iniesta - is taken short with Thiago quickest to respond. The Bayern midfielder drives the ball into the box but it's blocked and cleared.
    • 13' Iniesta tries to pick out Costa with a searching pass from distance but it's too long for the Atletico striker.
    • 12' The home side are playing the better football at the moment, passing some silky football around Italy's D but there's been no way through a disciplined Italian defence as of yet.
    • 10' Fabregas finds himself on the end of an Alba cross but fails to make the most of it.
    • 8' The subsequent free-kick fails to beat the first man.
    • 7' Marchisio wins possession for Italy in the centre of midfield, lays off Cerci who wins a foul from Ramos.
    • 6' The corner is taken short and Pedro soon finds himself in possession on the edge of the area and he delivers a low shot which Buffon is equal to. Really lively start here.
    • 5' Really end to end stuff here in the opening minutes. Pedro has just won Spain their second corner in a matter of moments.
    • 4' Cerci causes Spain all kinds of problems on the flank before delivering a cross into the danger area but the ball ends up hitting the post and Casillas collects.
    • 3' The corner is easily dealt with. Italy break forward through Candreva but he can't find Osvaldo, his pass intercepted.
    • 2' Iniesta does what he does best by picking out Alba with a wonderful through ball but an Italian challenge is made and Spain have an early corner.
    • 1' And we're off!
    • 21.00 A fitting tribute to the late Luis Aragones, who sadly passed away last month, is played before kick-off.
    • 20.55 We're just minutes away from kick-off. Get in touch via Twitter @Darren Beatz and let me know your predictions. I'm going for a 2-0 home victory. Not quite the four goal thrashing del Bosque side gave the Italians in the Euro 2012 final but still a win nonetheless.

    • 20.52 Spain 1/2, Italy 6/1, Draw 3/1 - the current World champions are hot favourites tonight and you would have to be brave to bet against the home side.
    • 20.48 Prandelli is clearly frustrated with the attention his decision to drop de Rossi is getting.
    • 20.45 Cesare Prandelli: "Our energy should be directed towards the squad and the project for the World Cup, not in pointless controversy (referring to the decision to drop Daniele De Rossi for an infringement during a Serie A match). I already feel wiped out. Will the code of ethics still apply if it’s on the last day of the season? I doubt any of the top players would risk such a silly gesture."
    • 20.42 Bosque may not be entirely happy with Italy's starting eleven tonight. Injuries have hampered the squad with Mario Balotelli and Giuseppe Rossi missing out. de Rossi - as mentioned previously - has been overlooked and there is also no place for Pirlo in the line-up. Spain have fielded a strong squad and on paper it looks likely to be a home victory. Football isn't played on paper though, right?
    • 20.40 Vicente del Bosque: "I hope we face an Italy who played like they did when we drew 1-1 in the Euro 2012 Group Stage, and also when we drew in the Confederations Cup. The final of Euro 2012 was tough for them, they became more stretched and tired than us with their injuries and it was a very difficult situation for them. Now we expect to face a strong Italy and an equal and intense match."

    • 20.30 There are a string of new faces for the Italians tonight. Gabriel Paletta is handed his international debut while Torino winger Alessio Cerci and Juventus striker Dani Osvaldo – on loan from Southampton – will also start. Andrea Pirlo is on the bench while Daniele de Rossi was withdrawn from the squad for his punch on Mauro Icardi in Roma's league clash with Inter Milan on Saturday.
    • 20.25 Atletico Madrid's star forward Diego Costa will make his debut up front for Vicente del Bosque's side tonight whilst Alvaro Negredo will start the game on the bench. There is no room for Costa's team mate Koko in the starting line-up though and Xavi will also start the match from the bench with Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara taking a place in midfield.
