    • Juventus
    • 90+4' FULL TIME. Celtic so unlucky to lose 3-0 at home to Juventus, but the Italians were clinical, and that was the difference.
    • 90+2' This game is petering out - a sad end for a Celtic side that fought so well against their illustrious opposition.
    • 90' We will have three added minutes.
    • 89' Marchisio goes into the book for Juve as the game nears an end.
    • 88' Can Celtic get anything from the game? They need some inspiration now but a Mulgrew free-kick is hit straight at Buffon.
    • 86' Vucinic has done his part and comes off to be replaced by debutant Nicolas Anelka.
    • 85' The gamble of playing Ambrose hasn't paid off at all, either.
    • 84' So, so harsh on Celtic who have had the much greater weight of chances, but Juve have been clinical.
    • 83' GOAL! Celtic 0-3 Juventus! This is ridiculous. Celtic undone again by a ruthless Juve side. That's it done. Ambrose was caught in possession 30 yards from his own goal and Marchisio played in Vucinic, who slotted the ball under Forster.
    • 81' Juve make a change of their own as Paul Pogba replaces Matri.
    • 80' Kayal comes on in midfield as he replaces Brown - who has run his heart out for his team.
    • 79' Beram Kayal is getting ready for Celtic now...
    • 78' Incredibly harsh on Celtic, who have been by far the better side, but ruthless from Juve.
    • 77' GOAL! Celtic 0-2 Juventus! Marchisio with a second that could kill this tie off completely. Matri plays in the midfielder with a lovely first-time touch. He cuts back inside Brown and then beats Forster with a straight shot that the keeper gets a hand to.
    • 77' Padoin, like Lichsteiner before him, continues to wrap his arms around Brown when the corner comes in.
    • 76' Another double booking as this time Brown and Padoin go into the book for pushing at a corner.
    • 75' Mulgrew delivers an outswinger but he can't find Ambrose at the back post. Celtic play the ball around and then win another corner, on the opposite side...
    • 74' Izaguirre has a cross deflected behind for a corner...
    • 73' Watt does come on and it is Commons he is replacing. That gives Celtic more presence in attack.
    • 73' Pirlo with the corner and he finds Marchisio 25 yards out. The shot is low and meek though and Celtic clear their lines.
    • 72' A rare attack for Juventus and Lichtsteiner's cross is cleared by a Celtic shirt behind for a corner. The home side are getting Tony Watt ready on the sidelines.
    • 72' Another corner to Celtic but the deep delivery allows Buffon to peel off the back post and catch the ball comfortably.
    • 71' Laughable. Lichtsteiner at it again as he pushes Brown to the turf before a corner comes in. The Swiss defender is lucky to still be on.
    • 70' Here is the change and Peluso is replaced by Simone Padoin.
    • 69' A ball comes into the box and Peluso goes down. The doctors come on but the wing-back will have to be taken off here.
    • 68' Peluso appears to be nursing a problem with his foot but instead of going to ground to get treatment he carries on.
    • 67' Celtic block from a Vucinic shot as Wilson gets his foot in the way. The attack came from the left after Matthews had been caught upfield.
    • 66' Stat from Opta: "This is the first time Celtic have reached the last 16 of the Champions League since 2007/08. They’ve never progressed further."
    • 65' A ball over the top now causes problems for Juve but Buffon comes off his line quickly to ward off danger.
    • 64' Now Brown rifles in a cross from the right that Andrea Barzagli does well to clear. More pressure on Juventus.
    • 63' HUGE CHANCE FOR CELTIC! Celtic go short from the corner and as the ball comes in from a deeper position, Ambrose advances to find himself in a pocket of space. He has a free header but angles the ball into the turf and up into Buffon. Awful attempt; he should have scored.
    • 62' Fine, fine work from Izaguirre and Mulgrew to win a corner on the left...
    • 61' Matri is in yards of space when trying to get on the end of a cross from Lichtsteiner but he is adjudged offside. Replays show it to be the correct decision.
    • 60' Nice, Vieira-esque control and turn from Wanyama in midfield. Celtic are keeping the ball nicely at the moment and Juve are sitting back.
    • 59' Here is the change and young Wales international Adam Matthews is on to replace the injured Lustig.
    • 58' Lustig has had a good game so far but he has pulled up injured and will have to be removed. Meanwhile, replays show it wasn't a penalty.
    • 57' Lustig whips in a cross from the right - it's another good one - and Forrest goes to ground under contact in the box. Celtic want a penalty, I want a replay.
    • 56' Risky business from Ambrose as he twists and turns away from his marker as the last man. He gets the pass away but Celtic then lose possession.
    • 55' Replays clearly showed it was a foul from Bonucci on Izaguirre and no wonder Lennon was throwing up his arms in frustration.
    • 54' Stat from Opta: "Juventus are one of four teams unbeaten in the Champions League this season with Borussia Dortmund, Malaga and Schalke."
    • 53' Great run from Izaguirre as he cuts in from the left and appears to draw a foul 25 yards from goal, but the referee says the ball was taken and play continues.
    • 52' Lustig looks to have a chance to run in behind but his first touch is heavy, allowing a Juventus defender to come across to take possession of the ball.
    • 51' Fantastic defending from Scott Brown as he halts Peluso's run into the box and clears for Celtic.
    • 50' Lennon looks furious when Mulgrew is penalised for a foul on Lichtsteiner by the touchline.
    • 49' A poor pass from Wanyama to cede possession. He needs to tighten up a bit.
    • 48' Lichtsteiner tries to touch the ball one side of his man and go the other but loses possession. Celtic work the ball around and eventually Hooper attempts an overhead kick that loops up for Buffon to grab.
    • 47' An early free-kick for Celtic and Mulgrew's delivery is nice, but Lustig mis-times his jump and the ball comes off the back of his head.
    • 46' KICK OFF!

    • 45+2' HALF TIME. Marchisio's goal separates the sides but Celtic have been fantastic, creating a string of chances against their much-vaunted opposition.
    • 45+1' We will have one added minute.
    • 45' A Celtic corner comes short to Forrest and Ambrose tries to flick the winger's weak shot between his legs and at goal, only to catch his standing leg.
    • 44' From the set-piece, Juve try to pick out Vidal again from 20 yards and his low effort is blocked by a sea of Celtic shirts before Forster saves the follow-up from Leonardo Bonucci.
    • 43' Lustig shields the ball out but the referee spots it touched the Celtic man and Juventus have a corner.
    • 42' Forrest into the book for a poor challenge on Pirlo, catching his standing leg late.
    • 41' Lustig with another fantastic cross from the right but Hooper gets under the ball and can't get his header on target. Another chance for Celtic though.
    • 40' Commons has another sight of goal but again from outside the box he puts it too close to Buffon. The keeper will gobble those up all game long.
    • 39' Pirlo is stroking the ball around extravagantly at times - a joy to watch when afforded space.
    • 38' Now another corner comes in from Commons and Wanyama gets under the ball as Hooper and Lichtsteinger go at it again, his header flying over the bar.
    • 37' Now they are at it again and the ref wants another word. Much more of that and they'll be risking a red. The corner comes in and Ambrose can't get a clean header away. Lichtsteiner, though, has his hands all over Hooper again.
    • 36' Lichtsteiner all over Hooper from a corner again and the referee books both players.
    • 35' Good pressure from Celtic forces Lichtsteiner into a sloppy pass but Wanyama then fouls Vidal as Juve earns some respite.
    • 34' Nice bit of skill by Vucinic before Ambrose comes in to flatter into the forward.
    • 33' Vidal is back on the pitch by the way, having recovered from that incident with Ambrose.
    • 32' Opta stat: "Celtic have suffered only two defeats in 23 home games in the Champions League, both against Barcelona."
    • 31' Vidal needs treatment and Lennon takes the chance to speak to his players as the Chilean hobbles off.
    • 30' Pirlo goes short from a corner and the routine finds Vidal arriving 20 yards from goal. He is caught by Ambrose though as he goes for the ball.
    • 29' Celtic's high-energy approach is working for now but you fear they might tire in the second half. They need to get a goal or two while they are having so much of the play.
    • 28' Many, many chances for Celtic so far tonight. They are more than playing their part in this encounter.
    • 27' Hooper with some nice control to pull the ball down and then play in Lustig. The Swede delivers the cross and Commons executes an overhead kick that flies just wide.
    • 26' Celtic are playing some nice one-touch stuff but a move breaks down when Wanyama makes a mess of a first-time pass.
    • 25' Another ball over the top causes problems as Vucinic runs onto it and rounds Forster. However, the angle is tight and he has to cross. Celtic clear and Wanyama produces an important block from Marchisio.
    • 24' Wanyama drills one wide but the real action is off the ball as Brown and Pirlo go at it again. Brown slid in on the midfielder and Pirlo then knocked into the Scot, provoking a bit of pushing. It's simmering in midfield.
    • 24' Pirlo demands a yellow card for Brown after he knocks the Italian to ground and then tries to hurdle over him. Never a booking though.
    • 23' Another chance for Celtic as Hooper drives a low one at goal from just outside the box. Buffon equal to it again though.
    • 22' Stat from Opta: "Only PSG conceded fewer goals (3) than Juventus (4) in the Champions League group stages this season. They’ve kept a clean sheet in their last three games."
    • 21' Matri's movement is posing Celtic problems tonight. He's a canny operator.
    • 19' Now Lustig tries to release Hooper with a quick pass after driving through midfield but the striker can't pull it under control as the chance passes.
    • 18' Mulgrew tries to pick out a square pass but misjudges and instead gifts possession to the away side.
    • 16' Buffon flaps at a ball from the right wing but though Forrest collects the loose ball in the box, he can't get around his man to pull it back.
    • 15' Stat from Opta: "No Italian club has won at Celtic Park in the Champions League (two defeats, two draws)."
    • 14' Emilio Izaguirre produces a delicious cross from the left but when meeting the ball near the penalty spot Commons can't keep it down as he launches the ball over the bar. Celtic are certainly creating enough chances.
    • 13' A new replay shows that the shot from Matri had crossed the line before Wilson hooked his foot round the ball and Marchisio swept home the rebound.
    • 12' Marchisio picks out Matri with a fine ball over the top but Mikael Lusting and Kelvin Wilson combine to rob the striker of possession.
    • 11' Stat from Opta: "Juventus had the joint-most shots in the group stages this season, alongside Real Madrid (126, including blocked shots)."
    • 10' Big chance for Celtic! A ball is only partially cleared to Commons 25 yards from goal and he thunders in a first-time drive that Buffon has to throw out an arm to save.
    • 9' Brown battles for the ball and wins a header on the edge of the box to find Charlie Mulgrew, who drives the ball wide. Another chance for Celtic though.
    • 8' Matri gets the better of Ambrose again from another high ball and eventually Peluso whips in a fantastic cross to find Marchisio at the back post. He meets the ball with a fine volley but can't keep it down.
    • 7' That one lapse aside, Celtic have started very well. However, they have conceded an away goal and it's a long way back from here.
    • 6' Wanyama attempts another effort from range but though it fizzes at goal, it is too close to Buffon, who clasps the ball to his chest.
    • 5' Kris Commons gets a touch to the head from Federico Peluso in the box but it's not enough for a penalty.
    • 4' Oh dear. Celtic really had to be at their best to have any chance tonight and that is a big mistake from Ambrose, who only linked up with the team this morning after coming back from the African Cup of Nations. He misjudged the flight of the ball.
    • 3' GOAL! Celtic 0-1 Juventus! Terrible defending from Ambrose as Alessandro Matri muscles past him to meet a bouncing ball and taps it under Fraser Forster. The ball is cleared off the line but Claudio Marchisio is there to sweep the ball into the roof of the net.
    • 3' From the corner, Stephan Lichtsteiner has his hands all over Gary Hooper and indeed drags the striker into the net.
    • 3' Wanyama with the first effort of the night and he takes aim from 30 yards and sends a wickedly swerving shot at goal. It is sneaking wide but Gianluigi Buffon tips it round for a corner nonetheless.
    • 2' The atmosphere at Celtic Park does sound rather incredible. If there is such a thing as a 12th man then Celtic have one tonight.
    • 1' KICK OFF! Celtic in their green and white hoops attacking left to right, Juventus in change black.
    • 19:45 After a hearty rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone, the two sets of players enter the tunnel at Celtic Park. Who do you fancy? Let me know on Twitter. Follow @tomEurosport on Twitter!

    • 19:35 Time for some quick stats from Opta: "Fraser Forster was the busiest goalkeeper in the group stages among the teams who reached the last 16 with 25 saves. Andrea Pirlo completed the most crosses during the group stages (23). Only PSG conceded fewer goals (3) than Juventus (4) in the Champions League group stages this season. They’ve kept a clean sheet in their last three games."
    • 19:30 Meanwhile, Juventus start as favourites, but Arsene Wenger warns against writing Celtic off. Wenger: Don’t assume Celtic v Juventus will be one-sided
    • 19:25 Celtic have done fantastically well to reach the last 16 of the Champions League, but Paul Parker reckons they will go no further. Parker: Juventus far too strong for Celtic
    • 19:20 Juventus are unbeaten in their past 16 matches in Europe and currently top Serie A by five points. In Andrea Pirlo, sitting at the heart of their 3-5-2 formation, they boast one of the classiest midfielders going. Whether Wanyama can get on top of him could be crucial to tonight's outcome. Arturo Vidal is also some player and looked handy in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea earlier in the campaign.
    • 19:15 Antonio Conte: "We're going to have to be very, very careful here tomorrow night. I feel that a stadium of 60,000 people will be like a 12th man. Celtic are a very good team. To beat Barcelona here and to go so close at the Camp Nou is proof of that. If anyone's been underestimating Celtic, it's certainly not been us. We have respect for Celtic who, like ourselves, are back in the Champions League."
    • 19:10 Neil Lennon: "It's the only show in town when Celtic are in Europe here. For me to bring these nights back is very special. We have been made out to be massive underdogs, but I don't see it that way myself. They play a totally different style to Barcelona, we will adapt. They are strong defensively, well organised and very consistent. We want to be in the tie going to Turin. The players haven't shown much fear going away from home this season."
    • 19:05 There's no doubting this is a huge test for Celtic, but Neil Lennon's side defeated Barcelona 2-1 at home in the group stages and will be hoping to replicate a 4-3 win over Juve in 2001. With a partisan crowd at their backs, they could just sneak a decent result tonight, especially if they summon up the quality, discipline and commitment they showed against Barca.
    • 19:00 With Giorgio Chiellini suspended, Kwadwo Asamoah unfit after returning from the African Cup of Nations and Paolo De Ceglie missing with a thigh problem, Federico Peluso plays on the left for Juve. There is no place for Paul Pogba or Nicolas Anelka though, the latter of whom could make his debut from the bench.
    • 18:55 TEAMS: Celtic: Forster; Lustig, Wilson, Ambrose, Izaguirre; Forrest, Brown, Wanyama, Mulgrew; Commons, Hooper. Subs: Załuska, Matthews, Ledley, Kayal, Miku, Nouioui, Watt. /// Juventus: Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, Caceres, Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Peluso, Matri, Vucinic. Subs: Storari, Pogba, Padoin, Marrone, Giovinco, Anelka, Quagliarella.
    • 18:50 Samaras will be sorely missed - he scored the opener at Camp Nou in a narrow 2-1 defeat - but in Gary Hooper Celtic possess a lethal finisher. He will be supported by Kris Commons while the heart of the team is captain Scott Brown and the tenacious Victor Wanyama in midfield.
    • 18:45 Team news is coming out of Celtic Park and the bad news for the home side is that Georgios Samaras has been unable to recover from a hamstring injury. Efe Ambrose does start though, along with James Forrest, after returning from the African Cup of Nations just in time.
    • 14:05 Celtic have only one major doubt for the match with Georgios Samaras fighting to be fit from a hamstring strain. Emilio Izaguirre and James Forrest are fit for selection while defender Efe Ambrose returns after playing in Nigeria's 1-0 win over Burkina Faso in the final of the African Nations Cup on Sunday night in South Africa.
    • 13:46 Lennon said: "Sir Alex took time out of his heavy schedule to come and visit me and my backroom team one afternoon and throughout the campaign we have been in touch. He has gone out of his way at times to help us, not in a huge way but little pointers in the right direction, with little tit-bits of advice for what to look out for and for a young manager he is fantastic in that way."
    • 13:45 Neil Lennon will take the inspiration of Sir Alex Ferguson into his preparations for the first-leg of Celtic's Champions League last-16 clash against Juventus at Parkhead. The Manchester United boss - an ex-Rangers player - has offered his Hoops counterpart regular "tit-bits" of advice as the Parkhead side battled through two qualifiers before coming second to Barcelona in their group to take them into the knockout stages where they were paired with the Italian giants.
  • Summary

  1. Pub league team v Serie A team... There's only going to be one outcome.

From Dissertations, on Wed 13 Feb 18:54
  2. Celtic were unlucky to have to play under a heavily biassed referee but that's not an unusual situation for them. They worked very hard but some players were below par including Forster. The real problem though was Ambrose and that has to go down to the manager who should have known better. Neil Lennon usually gets it right for the league, but his judgement is suspect with cup games as results show.

From Arthur, on Wed 13 Feb 17:45
  3. perhaps when lenon gets fri of that t shirt maybe they might win..why do they think they had a chance.....

From Robert, on Wed 13 Feb 16:50
  4. Barcelona were never to bothered because they knew they were gonna win the group. Knockout stage is very different. I kept hearing throughout the match how unlucky Celtic were and they didn't deserve to lose 3-0. They did deserve to lose 3-0 because they conceded 3 and didn't score any.

    From , on Wed 13 Feb 9:16
  5. This was a shocking result, Celtic out played juve for the entire game and before you Sevco fans start #$%$ look at the stats above, more possession, almost twice as many shots on goal and on target.

  7. I'll give Celtic all the due in the world for what they've accomplished in the Champions League so far, but now they're at the adult table now, and it's time to step up their game.

  8. I guess practice at rangers training ground make good impact... Maybe Celtic want to try practice at Milan training ground to get some benefits when come to juventus arena...

From Anonymous, on Wed 13 Feb 1:16
  9. As a lifelong Juve fan I have to say, Celtic played out of their skins tonight. The result flatters the game. All these refereeing comments though, really???? Grow up!!! . Was in a pub of predominantly Celtic fans, and the ref issue never even came up. Juventus took what little chances they had whilst defending very well. Celtic made a very tough team look very average! Kudos to them. I hope they build on what they have. It would be an asset to the beautiful game if they can.....Celtic won many a Juve fan's heart tonight! Respect where it is due!!!
