    • 90+3 There goes the final whistle! No late, late show from Real. Dortmund the better side on the night. They win 2-1 and are on the cusp of the last 16 as Group D leaders with seven points from their opening three matches. Thanks for joining us tonight.
    • 89' Perišić is brought on for Reus. We are into three minutes of time added.
    • 88' Modric keeps the ball. Looks for Ronaldo. Suddenly the visiting side showing some urgency as we head for stoppage time.
    • 87' Essien arrives late in the box from Di Maria's cross. Essien knocks it wide at the near post. Poor finish from Real. Quality of Real has been suspect this evening.
    • 86' Robert Lewandowski with a half chance in the visiting box, but can only flash the shot in among the home fans. Real up against the clock now.
    • 85' Schieber takes over from Götze for the home side. Can Real force an equaliser?
    • 84' Pepe with another poor piece of defending as the ball flies off him and out for another corner to the home team.
    • 83' Di Maria set up by Higuain from 25 yards out, but it is the same old story as the ball flies well over the bar.
    • 82' Lewandowski has his pocket picked in the middle of the park. Dortmund heading to the top of Group D with this win. Manchester City 3-1 down at Ajax in the night's other group match.
    • 81' Ronaldo makes a surging run down a flank. What a brilliant probing run by the superstar. Throws a cross deep into the box, but just overhits it looking for Di Maria in the middle.
    • 80' The home fans certainly loving this at the moment. Another clear dive by Reus after he was tackled by Alonso. Not sure that should have been a corner.
    • 79' Ronaldo inches away from getting on the end of a bending ball into the Dortmund box. Weidenfeller reacts quickly enough to race from his line to retrieve the situation.
    • 78' Di Maria throws over a corner for Real, but Weidenfeller comes off his line to make a strong punch clear.
    • 77' Ozil caught on the ball. Pepe then in a spot of trouble as Dortmund burst into the box, but Pepe gets away with one after appearing to tange with Gotze in his own area.
    • 76' Grosskreutz drives a shot past a post when he should have looked to pick out Robert Lewandowski. Was a real chance.
    • 75' Xabi Alonso is penalised for a foul on Götze. He has to watch his step otherwise he will end up getting a red card having already been booked.
    • 74' Gonzalo Higuain's first contribution to the match sees him ruled offside when he was clearly onside. The home fans trying to roar their side to victory.
    • 73' Benzema departs the action to be replaced by Gonzalo Higuain.
    • 72' Di Maria with a cross to the back post looking to pick out Ronaldo, but Lukasz Piszczek does the job with a solid clearing header at the back post.
    • 71' Pepe is booked for a late clip on Reus. Not sure that was a foul, but Dortmund will take it.
    • 70' An offside flag goes up against Ronaldo, who is deemed to be offside. Frustration for the visiting team.
    • 69' Di Maria with another hopeful ball into the box, but that is far too easy for Hummels to clear the danger with his head.
    • 68' Ozil goes down looking for a foul around 35 yards from the visiting goal, but the referee says he went to ground too easily.
    • 67' Real dragging themselves up the park, but a long ball from the back flies well over the head of Di Maria. Not really Real's night so far.
    • 66' Change for Dortmund with Sven Bender departing the scene to be replaced by Ilkay Gündogan.
    • 65' Hummels back to win the ball from Ozil in the home box. Vital challenge as Modric smashes a shot over from distance.
    • 64' Question marks now over Real Madrid and whether they have the staying power to recover in this contest. Have not been at their best this evening.
    • 63' GOAL! Marcel Schmelzer drives the ball into the ground and into the corner of the net after Casillas makes a mess of an attempted punch. Robert Lewandowski let the ball go through his legs. Dortmund lead 2-1.
    • 62' Pepe rises to head out the danger before Sven Bender clatters another shot miles over the bar. Awful finish really.
    • 61' Alonso is booked for a cynical late challenge on Gotze.
    • 60' Kaka has three goals and six assists in his last nine appearances for Real Madrid and two goals and five assists in his last five starts. Wonder if he will be given the nod this evening?
    • 59' Ronaldo goes for goal, but can only drill the ball into the Dortmund wall. The locals happy to see that move fizzle out with that finish.
    • 58' Hummels with a crashing late tackle on Ozil and Real have a free-kick 35 yards from goal.
    • 57' Varane penalised for a foul on Lewandowski, who is doing plenty of running around this evening. He is causing that Real defence no end of issues.
    • 56' Lovely stuff from Dortmund, but the move ends with Bender leaning back to lift a shot miles over from the edge of the Real box. Criminal finishing really.
    • 55' Brilliant cross by Essien from out wide. Benzema couldn't get on the end of it with Weidenfeller left on his line. That cross deserved a finish.
    • 54' Seven shots now at goal by Real, but only one taken. Not the best of stats by such a glittering squad.
    • 53' Chance for Real, but Di Maria sees the shot slide narrowly wide of goal. What a chance that was, but Real fail to make that one count.
    • 52' Real Madrid survive that early period of attacking play by Dortmund in the second half. Casillas smashes the ball long down the park.
    • 51' Reus teases a free-kick to the near post of Casillas, who comes to punch away the dead ball. Another alert piece of goalkeeping.
    • 50' Another fine save by Casillas to dive and palm away the shot by Gotze. Great ball by Piszczek. Gotze should have done better with the finish.
    • 49' Di Maria slides the ball into the path of Benzema. Excellent run by the French forward, but Weidenfeller is alert to grasp the loose ball.
    • 48' A booking. Surprise, surprise it is Ramos who enters the book for his late tackle on Schmelzer. Was last sent off in the Champions League two years ago against Ajax.
    • 47' Dortmund forced to wait on the park for the return of Real Madrid in the second period, but at least we finally get there. A spot of gamesmanship perhaps by the visiting side.
    • 46' We are off and running here in the second period.
    • 45+2' There goes the whistle for the break. All level at 1-1. All to play for in the second period in Germany.
    • 44' Don't think there will be much time added to the first half. We are into two minutes of time added on.
    • 43' Ajax and Manchester City all level at 1-1 in the other game in this group tonight. Both matches locked at 1-1 then.
    • 42' Di Maria takes a tumble in the home half. Was clearly looking for a foul there, but the referee deemed that to be a dive. Which it was.
    • 41' Essien almost running into trouble on the edge of his own penalty area as he tried to dribble out of defence. Could have proved so costly to Real Madrid. A lack of urgency continues to haunt Real here, strangely enough.
    • 40' An offside flag goes up against Reus. That was a tight call, but the decision goes against the Dortmund player.
    • 39' Dortmund lead lasts less than two minutes after that long ball over the top by Ozil. Piszczek nowhere to be seen at right-back when that ball arrived.
    • 38' GOAL! Ronaldo scores for Real Madrid. One ball over the top and Ronaldo runs through to lob the ball over the head of Weidenfeller, who made it so easy for the Real forward.
    • 37' Sloppy, sloppy play by Pepe at the back. Not sure what he was thinking. Real Madrid certainly deserve to be punished for some slipshod stuff.
    • 36' GOAL! Lewandowski scores for Dortmund. Awful play by Pepe and Lewandowski runs onto the pass to stick the ball beyond Casillas. Brilliant finish by the Poland forward. Dortmund lead 1-0.
    • 35' Lewandowski is caught offside as Ronaldo cuts an unhappy figure in the middle of the park.
    • 34' The home manager Klopp is unhappy about something or other as he speaks to the fourth official. Not exactly a huge surprise. This match so evenly matched.
    • 33' Pepe clatters into a couple of strong challenges in the middle of the park. And on we go with Lewandowski penalised for some clumsy play.
    • 32' The home goalkeeper Weidenfeller has yet make a save tonight despite Real Madrid's obvious dominance of the ball in the middle of the park.
    • 31' Karim Benzema has scored 15 goals in his last 18 Champions League games. He will be looking to add to that tally tonight.
    • 30' Essien drills a shot over the bar from 30 yards out. Ball always on the rise. Real no nearer to finding this opening goal.
    • 29' Lewandowski bumps Varane off the ball racing down the middle. Late challenge and that will be a free-kick to the visiting team.
    • 28' Lewandowski concedes a free-kick for a foul on Pepe. Real Madrid yet to really get to grip with Dortmund after a bright opening to the match.
    • 27' Schmelzer dinks the ball at goal, but Casillas comes off his line to make the punch away. Decent piece of goalkeeping. On we go at 0-0.
    • 26' Gotze gives the ball away but he is given a free-kick seconds later under pressure from Modric. Free-kick 30 yards from goal.
    • 25' Kehl thrashes an effort at goal from the pass by Gotze. Good height for Casillas as he nudges the ball over the bar. Solid piece of goalkeeping.
    • 24' Di Maria slides the ball to Ronaldo, but the forward drills the shot over the bar from 18 yards out. Shot always on the rise. Goalkick to Dortmund.
    • 23' Reus concedes a free-kick for a foul on Essien, who is showing some typical upper body strength in the midfield area.
    • 22' The home fans have certainly not lost any heart here. They continue to exude some terrific noise in the stands of this giant stadium.
    • 21' Real happy to keep the ball. Little between these sides, and few chances so far. Real just dominating the ball before Di Maria thrashes a shot a couple of yards over.
    • 20' Real Madrid have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight Champions League games. Defending is clearly not their high point.
    • 19' A defensive midfielder in Khedira departs the scene to be replaced by the attacking midfielder in the shape of Modric.
    • 18' Khedira is on the deck. I think he has run his race for the night with Modric preparing to enter the action.
    • 17' Ball comes flying off the body of Lewandowski in the middle. Couldn't do much about that as the ball drops behind for a goalkick to the Spanish champions.
    • 16' Luka Modric on the substitutes bench doing up his boots. Wonder how long we will have to wait to see him?
    • 15' Lewandowski nods the ball over the bar from around 18 yards out. Couldn't really get any direction on the header under pressure from Pepe.
    • 14' Bender and Ronaldo collide, but it is the German player who is penalised for the use of a high boot. Borussia on the attack seconds later.
    • 13' Essien just plodding back into his own half. Slips the ball back to Pepe as Real look to build from the back.
    • 12' Casillas does well to dive low to his right to block Kehl's howitzer. That ball was travelling. The Real keeper had to be mindful of that one.
    • 11' Reus swings the corner in, but just too much pace on the delivery as the ball flies straight out of play. On we go. Mourinho comes to the touchline to do some more pointing.
    • 10' Reus is again penalised for a foul on Ronaldo. No damage done and the home side suddenly have their first corner of the night.
    • 9' A lot of players seem to be losing their footing very easily on this surface. Not sure if they have the correct footwear on out there.
    • 8' Reus is penalised for a foul on Essien. That should provide Real with some respite deep in their own half.
    • 7' Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in his last 11 Champions League appearances. What a danger he poses this evening.
    • 6' Hummels comes to head clear from a corner. Real starting this match very well as Khedira just fails to connect in the Dortmund box. All very quiet in this huge crowd.
    • 5' Di Maria sees a corner deflected behind for the visiting side's first corner of the net. Ozil just failing to convert a superb Ronaldo cross moments earlier.
    • 4' Offside flag goes up against Benzema. Weidenfeller happy to see that flag go up as he raced from the home goal.
    • 3' Klopp and Mourinho perched on the touchline as Pepe makes a fine tackle on the rampaging run of Piszczek.
    • 2' Iker Casillas makes his 125th appearance in UEFA competition tonight. He has now drawn level in appearances with former Madrid, AFC Ajax and AC Milan great Clarence Seedorf. Wonder how busy he is going to be? Pepe knocks the ball out of play. Taking no chances.
    • 1' We are off and running. Real Madrid kick this one off.
    • 19:40 Real Madrid have only ever won one of 23 European games away from home in Germany. They have lost 16 times in Germany, including their last four visits in a row.
    • 19:35 25,000 packed behind just one goal for this one. Madrid and Dortmund fans mixing freely in Dortmund. Always welcome to see. Almost ready to go here.
    • 19:30 Juergen Klopp: "We did not play well against Schalke and there is nothing we can do to change that. But the match against Real Madrid remains a cool game."
    • 19:30 Jose Mourinho's assistant Aitor Karanka: "The four guys at the back played very well. Celta only had one chance with a header at the end and our defence did some fantastic work. Sergio knows the (right back) position, Rafa delivers when he is used and Pepe was the same as always."
    • 19:25 The German side have won none of the last seven games against Spanish opposition including two defeats and two draws with Real Madrid in the Champions League.
    • 19:20 Marcelo is still injured for Real Madrid while Alvaro Arbeloa, who can play left-back as well as on the right, and another left-sided defender Fabio Coentrao are not yet fit either so Michael Essien again plays there. Sami Khedira returns to the midfield.
    • 19:15 Marcel Schmelzer and Mario Goetze return for Dortmund. Jakub Błaszczykowski is still out with his ankle problem. Mats Hummels is fit despite a back problem.
    • 19:10 TEAMS - Madrid: Casillas, Varane, Pepe, Ramos, Khedira, Özil, Xabi Alonso, Essien, Di María, Ronaldo, Benzema. Subs: Adán, Carvalho, Albiol, Kaká, Modrić, José Callejón, Higuaín /// Dortmund: Weidenfeller, Subotić, Hummels, Piszczek, Schmelzer, Kehl, Bender, Götze, Reus, Grosskreutz, Lewandowski. • 19:05 Dortmund have won none of their last four home games against Spanish opposition (D2 L2) with two draws against Real Madrid in that run.
    • 19:00 Welcome to live coverage of the Champions League Group D match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid at Signal Iduna Park.

  1. BVB are a great team. They didn't beat Bayern Munich last year on several occasions and become champs for no reason. I see them taking 3 points in Madrid as well.

  2. Just as I predicted : Borussia Dortmund 2-1 FC Franco . The better team won . This is a victory for football over money !!

  4. good day for Germany clubs and yesterday with Bayern winning.Schalk had a better chance of beating Arsenal l than Dortmund beating Madrid. unfortunally Arsenal are not a threating team. one tgerman team I would like to do well in CL is Dortmund.play attractive football than Bayern.

  5. Strange first half from both teams, expected a beter game, if Dortmund had not played good football it would have been a bad game with poor perfomance from Madrid. it was funny when the commentry said its like Dancing on Ice with them slipping.

  9. show how vulnerable real will be with a defence like barca. show how good tito vilanova is and all praise to him and barca. surely this year's ballon should go to 1 man who shoulders everything in a team with no defence. spell it out reader......................m

  12. so playing a midfielder at left back is all that's needed to make RM shaky in defence? man, I can't even start imagining what would have been the score had they played as #$%$ the defence as Barca have to play week-in week-out. I guess Mourinho is just too lazy to work on the team sheet so he simply picks what worked at home against Celta. no offense to Galicians but you have to prepare better for this sort of encounter.

From Mikha, on Wed 24 Oct 22:25
  13. madrid should be taught a lesson. Let them not waste time on Barca. Catalans know how to manouver with football
