Andy Murray wins 23 straight points in ‘mad’ Melbourne set

Andy Murray won an incredible 23 consecutive points to win his Australian Open round two match against Vincent Millot; that’s almost equivalent to an entire set!

The Wimbledon champion is still on the road to 100% fitness after injury blighted his second half of 2013. Between that and the extreme heat at Melbourne Park, his overall performance in the 6-2 6-2 7-5 success was far from his majestic best - and understandably so.

But while 5-1 down in the third set, Murray leapt out of first gear to offer future opponents in the first Grand Slam of 2014 a warning that the Scot's 'A-game' remains very much a presence in Australia.
