Spain forward Diego Costa was more intrigued by his team-mates legs than his nation’s dead rubber against Australia on Monday.

Costa, benched for the final Group B match, bizarrely elected to stick a strip of material to Xavi Alonso’s thigh before ripping it off and studying the results intently.
