Rafael Nadal won Roland Garros for a record ninth time on Sunday, cementing forever his reputation as the greatest clay-court performer to play tennis.

Our expert Mats Wilander said Nadal is the "perfect" player on the surface and believes his achievements at the French Open will never be matched.

"Nine times out of 10? No, we will never see this," he said.

But why is Nadal so hard to beat at the French Open?

Mats says the conditions play into Nadal's hands as the matches wear on at Roland Garros as when the court gets harder the ball bounces higher.
